Businesses must amend their VAT registration in the UAE whenever there are significant changes to their registered details. This includes changes in trade name or legal structure, such as company name updates, conversion of business type, mergers, or restructuring. Amendments are also required when there is a change in business address, including office relocation or updates to the registered or operational location, as well as when business activities are modified, such as adding or removing taxable activities or shifting between taxable, exempt, or zero-rated supplies.

In addition, VAT registration must be updated when there are changes in ownership or shareholding, including new shareholders, ownership transfers, or updates to ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs). Changes in authorised signatories, such as replacement of directors or managers, updates to bank account details for VAT refunds, and transitions from voluntary to mandatory registration due to turnover exceeding AED 375,000 or changes in taxable supply forecasts also require timely amendments to ensure compliance.
